wow, seems like lots of jw's are getting divorced these days.
since i left the jw's 51/2 years ago i know of at least 5 couples that attended the congregation that i went to, who are now divorced.
is this getting more common where you are?

I feel your pain.
May the fashion show at least make it worth your time.

.
did anyone have the book study group meet in your home?.
my family had the book study group meeting in our basement and it was such a drag.. some of the reasons why it sucked.. the house always had to be spotless.. my mom insisted that there was always refreshments available for after the group meeting.. some dubs used to wander into other parts of the house, including my room.. if i missed the bookstudy because i was sick, some would actually come down to my room to talk.. there were many times when little things would go missing, glasses, magaizines, books, food, you name it.. people would check out my music and books all the time.. i have long since moved out, but mom still has the book study meeting there..
How about when the bookstudy meeting finished at 8 p.m. but there are brothers/sisters that hang around 'til 10:00? And this on a weekday, where the next day kids have to get up early to go to school and others have to go to work. This kind of behavior went on at some of my relatives' homes where there have bookstudy meeting place.
Some time ago, elders told my hubby that if a bookstudy would form in our home perhaps Jehovah's spirit would flow and my attitude would change.
That was the last very heated argument we had in a very long time. I threatened divorce before I allowed that in my house. He told me it was his home too and I told him if he went on with it against my will I'd personally just throw the people out and call the police.
He never mentioned it again. EVER!

i think it is time to get of the tms schedule, i haven't given a talk in over a year and don't want to be on the list any more.
do you think the elders would get on my case if i did this?
is it a wise choice?.
Do what I did.
I never really asked to be removed, but just kept having last minute health/other emergencies that prevented me from attending on the night I happened to be scheduled to give a part.
After about 6 or 7 times that I pulled some stunt and didn't show up, they got the point and I haven't been scheduled to give a part for over 3 years now.
SO WONDERFUL!!!

elders were supposed to set the lead so that the rank and file would follow suit.
i generally read the watchtower thoroughly but seldom did i read the awake.
were you faithful readers of those rags?
Prior to 1995, yes. After 1995, dump them in the trash almost as fast as they make it to my home.

i've just been reading the november the 1st watchtower and its article on contributions that warm god's heart!.
it likens the contributions received by the wtbts as those given to rebuild god's temple in jerusalem!
the sheer cheek of the comparison!.
They're getting more visible with this "give, give, give" stuff because, believe it or not, the 'very tired-of-failed prophecies' rank and file aren't as 'giving' anymore.
Hey, life is costly these days, and since the WBTS frowns on higher education, the 'very tired-of-failed prohecies' rank and file aren't giving their very hard-earned money to this religious organization that just keeps on getting richer and building stuff that the regular everyday JW can only dream about stepping into (can you say DUMBO Brooklyn?! Patterson?!, etc.).
I'm not giving a red cent anymore. Actually haven't given a penny for quite some time. Although, my very faithful JW husband more than makes up for what I don't contribute.

ah, where to start.
i have been married for 30 years and was a jw with my husband for 20+.
we raised 6 children in the borg; none of which, thankfully, stuck with it.
Pick the right, peaceful, cordial moment and inform your husband that you're not of the same mind religiously speaking and that you'd appreciate if he respected you in that regard.
After that, whenever you get the smallest hint that the JW indoctrination is coming from him, nicely remind him about it again, and again, and again, until he finally gets it.
My husband currently understands that I'm not wholeheartedly in the religion and he leaves me alone for the most part. I've even gone as far as telling him the truth about why I'm still somewhat in, that it's because I need to talk to my family, and that otherwise I'd have left a long time ago. He respects that and really leaves me alone. The only difference is that we truly love each other and have so much personality and other things in common.
The only thing I regret is that he really loves his religion and because of me he won't be able to get as far as he deserves inside it. He's a truly good guy, and good Christian.

Twinflame,
Don't make things harder than they have to be on yourself and on your husband.
You've already successfully left the WBTS with your children. They're grown and gone. Your husband has accepted it and keeps on trucking. It seems that he's left you alone; then, what is it you're looking for? Leave him alone! Don't sweat the small stuff anymore!
Doing some volunteer work is a step in the right direction. Fill your life with positive, constructive things and live it one day at a time.
Otherwise, it all just sounds to me like you want out and are looking for an excuse. There's no perfect situation/relationship out there, you know. Find enjoyment in the life you have now and quit the whining.
